LeRoy W. Eberly, age 63, of Midvale, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 in Union Hospital at Dover following a 10 month battle with cancer.

A son of the late William LeRoy and Bertha June (Wade) Eberly, LeRoy was born in his family’s Dennison residence on August 4, 1949.

A member of the last graduating class from the Midvale High School, LeRoy began working alongside his father at the former U.S. Concrete Company of Uhrichsville. From there, he was employed by a number of factories throughout the area in the steel industry. In 2010, LeRoy ultimately retired from Dover Tank and Plate following a 15 year career with the firm. Through his tenure in the steel industry, LeRoy was actively involved in the Steel and Boilermaker Unions and for a period of time served as Union Steward.

Always passionate about the activities he involved himself with; LeRoy served for many years on the Village Council at Midvale where he currently presided as Council President. Additionally, he enjoyed his work as a former member of the Midvale Lions Club and had also previously served as the Lions Zone Chairman. LeRoy was also an active organizer of the parades held throughout the Village of Midvale and a supporter and organizer of Indian Valley fundraising activities.

He was also a member of the senior golf league at Five Waters Golf Course and for many decades attended the Ohio High School Boys State Basketball Tournaments at Columbus. He was also an avid fan of The Ohio State University, NASCAR, and football.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Ellie Fischio, whom he married in the Midvale United Methodist Church on October 5, 1973; four children, Leanne (Joel) Gonzalez of Midvale, LeRoy R. (Sherree) Eberly of Canfield, Ohio, James (Heather) Eberly of Toledo, Ohio and William (Jemma) Eberly of Canton; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Martinelli of New Philadelphia and four sisters, Lillian (husband, Gene) Boggiani of Midvale, Hilda Studer of Port Washington, Donna (husband, Randy) Cadle of Midvale, Katherine (husband, Tom) Sayre of Canton.

Fourteen grandchildren, Jessica, Jeffrey, Joshua, Jerrod, Gabrielle, Holly, Mallory, Natalie, Jamie, Zachary, Connor, Lauren, Caitlyn, and Rachel; an expected great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.

In addition to his parents, LeRoy was preceded in death by his siblings, Sue Stuber, Lois Day, Charles, William II and Walter Eberly; a brother-in-law, Samuel Studer, and his father-in-law, Amico Fischio.
