Leroy Victor Yaggi, 88, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, September 11, 2016 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.
A son of the late Victor and Mary (Zedi) Yaggi, Leroy was born October 13, 1927 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Leroy graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1946 and was retired from Shenango where he worked for more than 30 years. He was a member of Jerusalem Church, was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by a brother, Walter (Nancy) Yaggi; two sisters, Betty Stilgenbauer and Alice Leggett and numerous nieces and newphews.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; three half-brothers, Charles, Edwin and Jacob Zedi and three half-sisters, Gertrude Geib, Helen Lang and Margaret Hidey.
In keeping with Leroy’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service celebrating Leroy’s life will be on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Jerusalem Church with Rev. Tom Hendershot officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Following the service a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall in the church.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Leroy’s memory to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
