Leota J. “Joy” Kalp, age 90, of Country Club Retirement Center at Dover, died peacefully Tuesday, November 27, 2007.Joy’s life began on May 19, 1917 at Mineral City, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Velma Huff Herron. A 1934 graduate of Mineral City High School, Joy worked briefly for The Timken Company at Zoarville. Joy was also a long time employee of the City of New Philadelphia where she served as Clerk for the Water Department for twenty years until her retirement in 1983.On December 30, 1954, Joy married Milford Kalp who preceded her in death in the spring of 1964. Mrs. Kalp’s love and work for the Lord did not go unnoticed by friends and family as she was an active member of the First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia where she worked effortlessly for many years teaching a Sunday school class. When Joy was not busy tending to lesson plans for Sunday school she would take time to work on embroidery projects.Joy is survived by a sister, Ethel Jane Herron of Country Club Retirement Center at Dover; three step sisters, Ruth Luttrell of San, Juan Puerto Rico, Ann Luttrell of Indiana, and Florence Zoldak of Cleveland and a step brother, Herbert Tidik. Those who went to be with the Lord ahead of Joy, include her parents and her husband as well as a brother, Ralph Herron and a nephew, Thomas Herron.Friends will be received on Saturday, December 1, 2007 from 10:00AM to11:00AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia. A service remembering Joy’s life will be conducted by Reverend Joe Shulz of the First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia beginning at 11:00AM in the funeral home’s chapel with interment to follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.Those unable to attend may visit the funeral home’s website and send personal condolences to the family and sign the online guest registry.Memorial contributions in honor of Joy’s life may be sent to Calvary Evangelistic Mission, P.O.
