Leonard Wayne Ricklic

Leonard Wayne Ricklic, 76, of New Philadelphia received his wings on Friday, March 24, 2006 after a long battle with C.O.P.D.Born January 14, 1930 at Ecorse, Michigan, Leonard was the son of the late John and Ann (Pisony) Ricklic.He was a 1948 graduate of Midvale High School and on July 7, 1950, Leonard married the former Norma T. Menapace.Leonard was a combat veteran of the United States Army having served in the 25th Infantry Division, 35th Regiment during the Korean Conflict. He retired from I.F. Sales (Ridged Tool) after 36 years of service.Leonard was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia as well as a lifetime member of the New Philadelphia Elks #510, the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445 and the New Philadelphia AMVETS.He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Norma Ricklic; children, Timothy Ricklic of New Philadelphia, Kristen Basiletti of Dennison and Eric Ricklic of Dallas, Texas and five grandchildren, Michael, Alek, Sonja, Jonni and Rocco.Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Haines.Family and friends may call at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia from 4 to 7 p.m. with the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge #510 conducting services at 3:45 p.m. and a Christian Wake service being held at 6:45 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Leonard’s life will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Monsignor George Schlegel officiating. Following the conclusion of the funeral service, the New Philadelphia V.F.W Post #1445 will perform military honors.
