Leonard Lamonica

Leonard “Buck” Lamonica, 82, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, January 13, 2003 at Hennis Care Centre in Dover following a brief illness.Born in Dover, he was the son of the late Cono and Marianna Ritz Lamonica. Buck was a 1939 graduate of Dover High School where he was co-captain of the basketball team and played baseball and was also U.S. Army veteran having served during W.W.II in the pacific. He had retired in 1982 from Marlite in Dover after thirty-four years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia, a life member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post 1445 and enjoyed gardening.Surviving is his wife, the former Edna M. Martin, whom he married August 25, 1946; a son, Gregory (Rebecca) Lamonica of New Philadelphia and a sister, Carmella Margo of Strasburg. Three brothers are deceased.Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 16, 2003 at 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with Msgr. George J. Schlegel officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia V. F.W. will conduct military graveside services. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2003 from 10 to 11 AM in the funeral home.
