Lee Edward Lundenberger, age 87, of Bolivar, who “never had any bad days, just some better than others”, died Thursday, August 11, 2016 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a brief illness.
A son of the late Clifford and Elizabeth (Huffman) Lundenberger, Lee was born at Dover, OH on July 22, 1929.
He graduated from the former Bolivar High School and was a member of the Dixie Division of the United States Army, where he was stationed state-side as a rifle instructor during the Korean War.
Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Lee worked as a fire tender aboard locomotive engines. He later operated his own SOHIO gas station prior to joining Hannon Electric. While at Hannon, he worked as a government certified welder and retired following many years of service. Lee also worked for a long period of time as the upstairs bar tender for the former Bear Creek Steak House, which was located outside of Bolivar.
Lee was an active member of the Fort Laurens American Legion Post 190, Bolivar Sportsman’s Club and the Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department. He was known as an accomplished leather craftsman and wood worker, and greatly enjoyed spending time with his three grandsons.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Dale) Ousley and Lanette (Andrew) Lundenberger-Fliger; his brothers, Maurice (Mary Lou) Lundenberger and Phil “Rail” Lundenberger all of Bolivar; his grandsons, Jeremy (Kara) Rodgers of New Philadelphia, Josh (Samantha Bour) Rodgers and Jerrod Ousley; three great-grandchildren, Bryson, Brexton, Brylee and a fourth expected in October; his friend and caregiver, Brenda “Lori” Symons all of Bolivar and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Lundenberger in 1993.
The family will greet guests on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover and again on Monday from 9:30-10:30 AM. A service celebrating Lee’s life will be led by family friend, Rebecca Hubble, on Monday at 10:30 AM in the Dover Geib Center where a meal and fellowship will immediately follow the service. Burial will take place on Monday at 1:30 PM in the Fort Laurens Cemetery at Bolivar.
