Leah Reynolds, 67, of New Philadelphia, entered her heavenly reward Tuesday evening, August 17, 2004, from her residence. Born in New Philadelphia September 8, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Mason Torgler. Leah graduated as the Salutatorian of her class with a 4.0 grade point average from New Philadelphia High School in 1954.Leah spent her life doing the work of God. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church of New Philadelphia for more than half a century. She served actively in the children’s ministry of her church. She helped people across the globe, and in her own community come to Christ. From doing mission work in Asia, to teaching others of God’s promise during her regular chemotherapy treatments at her doctor’s office, Leah kept, taught, and gave abundant faith. For many years she worked in secretarial services for Harkem, the Law Firm of Fitzpatrick, Zimmerman & Rose, the former Sears’s office and Basic Business Services, all of New Philadelphia. On September 26, 1954, she married Jerry Reynolds. The couple looked forward to celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary in five weeks. Together, Leah and Jerry raised three sons; Jeffrey A. (wife Susie) Reynolds of Salem, Va., and Jack E. Reynolds and Scott S. Reynolds, both of New Philadelphia. Survivors also include a step-mother, Mary Torgler Sellers of Coshocton, OH, a sister, Pat (husband William) Reynolds, and a twin sister, Reah (husband Gene) Williams, all of Dover. Numerous Nieces and Nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, a sister, Norma Torgler, is deceased.Friends are invited to call Friday afternoon from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 PM at the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia where Pastor Mark Trotter will lead a funeral celebrating Leah’s life Saturday morning at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Following the committal service, members of the church will host a reception for family and friends in “The Barn” on the church campus. So Leah’s legacy of service to God may continue, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the World Missions Fund or the Bible Publishing Fund in care of the First Baptist Church, 878 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia OH 44663.
