Lawrence “Larry” Jagunic, 73, of North Carolina died Dec. 21, 2021, at his North Carolina home after an unexpected heart difficulty. He was the husband of Janet Jagunic, whom he married January 1989.
Born Feb. 15, 1948, in Lorain, Ohio, he was the son of Yolanda Jagunic of New Philadelphia, and the late Peter Jagunic. He graduated from New Philadelphia High, class of 1966, and Kent State University. He earned his MA from Ohio State University. Larry had a career in the welding supply industry as a sales representative, vocational school welding instructor and business owner. This career took him and his family to Columbus, Ohio, North Carolina and Florida. After “retirement,” Larry was a telecommunications supervisor for vacation rental properties.
In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by two children, Kristen (Josh) Snow of Connecticut and Matthew (Liz) Jagunic of Colorado; five grandchildren, Ben, Oliver and Trevor Snow and Claire and Ryan Jagunic; two brothers and a sister, Richard (Sonny Sonnhalter) Jagunic, David (Jennifer) Jagunic and Judi (Mark) Dummermuth, all of New Philadelphia; in-laws, Joann and David Singleton, Mary Wallace, Sarah Benton and Elliott Naylor, all of North Carolina, and June Jagunic of Youngstown; and several nieces and nephews. In addition, he will be missed by his dogs, Sam and Apollo.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel.
The funeral mass will be at Sacred Heart Church on December 29,2021 beginning at 10 a.m., and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. There is no public visitation.
