Laverne J. Gnagy, 91, of Uhrichsville and formerly of Freeport, died Friday, August 11, 2006 in Beacon Pointe Rehab Center at Uhrichsville.A son of the late Charles and Iva Maude (Stewart) Gnagy, Laverne was born May 28, 1915 in Norman, Oklahoma.He was retired from Wagner Construction in Navarre where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Laverne was an avid fisherman and hunter and he enjoyed repairing lawn mowers.He is survived by his ex-wife and companion of 62 years, Sivilla Gnagy of New Philadelphia; two daughters, Grace Reed of Ragersville and Bonnie (Mark) Kimble of New Philadelphia; three sons, Robert Gnagy, Butch (Linda) Gnagy of Beach City and Denny (Fiancé Christina) Gnagy of Midvale; one brother, Paul “Juney” Gnagy of Amherst, Ohio and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Laverne was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steven Gnagy; two sisters; five brothers; one half sister and four half brothers.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Laverne’s life will follow at 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Rev. Carmel Hoskins officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg.
