LaVaughn M. Miskimen

May 26, 1923 — November 20, 2013

LaVaughn M. “Peg” Miskimen, 90, of Dover, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Park Village Assisted Living.

A daughter of the late Oliver Perry and Nellie Garnet (Moore) Householder, Peg was born May 26, 1923 at New Cumberland, Ohio.

Peg graduated from Dellroy High School and was employed as a cafeteria cook at the former Tuscarawas Warwick High School.

On July 17, 1943, she married the love of her life, David Yost Miskimen. Together the couple raised two children, David and Dianne and celebrated 65 years of marriage prior to David’s passing on April 26, 2009.

She was a longtime member of Sharon Moravian Church at Tuscarawas where she was also active with the Moravian Women. Along with her husband, she was a life member of the Nineveh Grange, an active member of Gideon’s International and a volunteer with the Tuscarawas County Senior Center.

Peg loved tending to her gardens, both flower and vegetable and blessed many by sharing the bounty from them. She enjoyed baking and her pies were without equal. Peg also enjoyed needle work and traveling especially to the southwestern United States.

She is survived by her children, David (Dianna) Miskimen of New Philadelphia and Dianne (Jerry) Ackerman of Dover; her grandchildren, Tom, Eliot, Jason, Dusty, Joni and Lisa; her great grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Bryant, Anna, Claire, Vera, Casey, Kelcie and Mason; two Godchildren, Mandy and Janet and a cousin, Garnet of Sandyville.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two grandsons, Owen and Ryan and a sister, Evelyn Neiswonger.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
