Lauretta J. Zesiger, 98, a lifelong resident of Sugarcreek, passed away peacefully at The Inn at Northwood Village in Dover on November 2, 2024 following a period of declining health.
Born in Sugarcreek on January 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Daniel “Rudy” and Ruth (Bartholemew) Stauffer.
After completing her formal education, Lauretta married her late husband, Paul J. Zesiger, and together they were blessed with the birth of 3 children, Ruth Ann, Robin, and Rod. She was an excellent homemaker for her family.
She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek and the Pythian Sisters. Additionally, Lauretta enjoyed gardening and knitting.
Lauretta is survived by her children, Ruth Ann (Bill) Rogers and Robin (Carl) Mackey, both of New Philadelphia and Rod (Yvonne) Zesiger of Strasburg; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Gordon (Eileen) Stauffer of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Paul, who preceded her in passing on June 8, 2001; and brothers, Rudy Dean Stauffer, Sr. and Doyle Stauffer.
A private graveside service will be held in Union Hill Cemetery at Sugarcreek.
