A beloved mother and grandmother, Laura Maxine Visintainer went home to heaven June 10, 2007.Born July 9, 1920 in Stillwater, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Anna Mae (Errington) Howard. After she graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1938 completing her formal education, she married the love of her life, the late Albert Mario Visintainer. Together, they were blessed with three daughters and celebrated 54 years of marriage before Albert’s death.Maxine was an active member of Midvale Methodist Church for 60 years, where she enjoyed her membership in the United Methodist Women’s Association. Her other memberships included the Midvale Club and the TOPS Club where she maintained status as a “Kop” and won numerous awards.She was a gifted seamstress, having designed and created original wedding gowns for her daughters. Her granddaughters will also cherish the quilts she made for each one of them. Maxine also enjoyed her time traveling. She had great stories and memories of her trips to Europe, the Outer Banks, N.C., Alaska and California.Maxine will be sadly missed by her family which includes her daughters, Judith (Robert) Thomas of Chico, California, Sarah (Ed) Brown of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and Rebecca Howe of Kent, Ohio; grandchildren, Lt. Commander Elizabeth Thomas, Dr. Susan (Freeland) Thomas, Kara (Brian) Howe-Lamonica, Dr. Amanda (Rav) Brown, Lindsay (Mark) Saunders, Melissa (Jeremy) Maranzano, and Patrick Brown; great-grandchildren, Liam Thomas, Sophia Mae, Kieran Robert, and Linnea Rose; sister, Wilma “Dutch” Stevenson; sister-in-law, Eva Howard; her beloved pets, Pixie and Blondie; childhood friend, Lilly Mills; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by her brother, William Howard.Visitation will be held Thursday, June 14 at Midvale United Methodist Church from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a service celebrating her life immediately following visitation at 3:00 p.m. A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall at the conclusion of the service. Inurnment of Maxine’s cremated remains will take place at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia on Friday.
