Laura Ann Speicher, 79, of New Philadelphia, passed away surrounded by her family, January 6, 2015 in Park Village Healthcare Center, following a period of declining health.
Born September 28, 1935, in New Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William “Don” and Daisy V. (Kiser) Brown.
After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1953, she married her lifelong companion and friend, the late Robert Leroy “Bob” Speicher on September 2, 1956.
Together, their faith was nurtured at First Christian Church in New Philadelphia, where Laura was a member of the Master Builders class and the Sisters Bible Study.
Other memberships included the MU Chapter of Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority, the Leesville Eastern Star Lodge #302, the Fairfield Grange, and the Red Hat Society.
Laura cherished her family. She spent her years caring for and nurturing her daughters, grandchildren, and being a wonderful “Gigi” to her great-grandsons. She also had a love for playing cards, singing, and square dancing with Bob.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters including Linda (Mike) Wood of Arkansas, Lori (Steve) Contini of Dover, Lisa (Don) Barbee of Columbus, and Lila (James) Beatty of Cuyahoga Falls; her grandchildren Christal Contini of Cleveland, Sarah (Justin) Berry of Arkansas, Nikki (Matt) Hume of California and Alexander Barbee of Columbus; her great-grandsons, Evan and Brady Berry; her brother, Kenneth (LeEtta) Brown of Mineral City; and her uncle, Omer (Peg) Kiser of New Philadelphia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bob.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Pastor Jim Borton will officiate a service celebrating Laura’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel Friday beginning at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in New Cumberland Cemetery.
Friends are invited to the church fellowship hall following the committal service where a meal will be served by Laura’s church family.
