Larry Lee Billetter, 59, of Roswell, died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday evening. Born December 19, 1943 in Martins Ferry, OH, he was a son of the late Clyde Willis Billetter and Gretna Elrich Billetter, and step-mother Alice Faye Billetter. Larry graduated from St. Claisville high school in 1963, and shortly thereafter joined the Army and served in Vietnam. Following his tour of duty, he began working with Marsh Lumber, now Marsh Industries, in a career that spanned thirty-five years.A life member of the New Philadelphia VFW Post 1445 of New Philadelphia, Larry enjoyed spending time fishing Wills Creek, Atwood, and other local fishing holes. He was also an avid bowler, and was a regular participant in three-man league play. He leaves a wife, the former Jo Ellen Dunkle, whom he married July 10, 1982, three daughters; Connie McPherson of Kingsland, GA, Julie Heidy (and her longtime companion David Watson) of New Philadelphia, and Tina (Russell) Melgosa, of Garden City, KA; and a son, Richard (Susan) Billetter of Dundee.Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; Lonny, Logan, and Leif Bernhart, Brittney Heidy, David Watson II, Alexis and Brianna Melgosa, and Christopher Billetter and was looking forward to the birth of a long anticipated grandchild due any day now. Two sisters; Fran (Henry) Saunders and Linda (Chet) Holloway and two brothers; Dean Billetter and James (Elaine) Billetter also survive. In addition to his parents, one brother, Ike, precedes him in death.Friends may call Friday afternoon from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home. Dr. Steven Bailey will officiate a funeral service Friday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home’s chapel where the VFW Post 1445 will conduct military honors. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Cremation will be conducted locally through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. To remember Mr. Billetter, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
