Larry Deloss Swinderman, 77, of Dover, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, March 28, 2016 at Union Hospital at Dover.
He was born to late Willard and Francis Swinderman on June 26, 1938 at Midvale, Ohio. Larry graduated from the Midvale High School class of 1956, where he excelled at all sports and received many awards playing for the Blue Devils.
He was a loving husband, father and grandpa and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He loved golfing, fishing and searching for shark’s teeth at Myrtle Beach, S.C. He served in the U.S. Army Tank Division, 1961-1963 and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.
He worked at Marlite and S.E.A. Society for Equal Access. He was a member of First Christian Church at New Philadelphia where he was also a member of the Christian Builder’s Sunday School class.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Tolbert Swinderman whom he married on July 3, 1964. He is also survived by his son, Kevin Deloss (Danielle) Swinderman of Jackson Township and daughter, Heather Jean (Doug) Glaser of Bolivar; his grandchildren, Emily Margaret (Lance) Augustine of Canton, Alexandra Marie Carpathios and Jonathan Dice Carpathios of Massillon and Nathaniel Paul and Brianna Renee Glaser of Bolivar.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roger and Doug Swinderman.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Larry’s life will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Borton and Pastor John Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park at Dover.
