Larry D. Patterson

Larry D. Patterson, age 55, of Cuyahoga Falls, died peacefully, Wednesday, June 26, 2013, in Akron City Hospital following a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer.

A son of Kathryn (Gartrell) Patterson of Carrolton, and the late Dean J. Patterson, Larry was born at Canton, Ohio on June 16, 1958.

He grew up in Carrollton and after graduating from high school, continued his education at Stark State where he earned his associate degree in accounting. Larry worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation at New Philadelphia from 1992-2011. As a fiscal officer, he loved his job.

In recent years, Larry attended Midvale United Methodist Church where his faith was nurtured. He was an avid tennis player and card player. He also enjoyed playing ping pong and foosball and would even play left handed so others would be willing to play along.

In addition to his mother, Larry is survived by his wife of 28 years, the former Denise Cooper, whom he married on May 26, 1985; two sons, Ryan (Krystle) Patterson of Medina and Adam Patterson of Cuyahoga Falls; the family dog, Cooper; his grand-puppy, Henry; three sisters, Beverly Brown of Myrtle Beach South Carolina, Marilyn Knider of East Canton, and Marjie George of Carrollton; a brother, Bob Patterson of London, Ohio and his father and mother-in-law, Don and Dorothy Cooper.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Pastor Lyle Warren will lead a service celebrating Larry’s life at 7 p.m. Cremation will then be cared for by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
