Laraine Gasser

Laraine Gasser, age 54, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009, in her home following a period of declining health.A daughter of Wilma (Beitzel) Gasser of New Philadelphia and the late Richard Gasser, Laraine was born in Union Hospital at Dover on July 22, 1955.Laraine attended the Starlight School and Workshop for a number of years and truly enjoyed the friendships that were made with her co-workers during that time. She was an avid fan of WJER-AM 1450 and a fan of former on-air personality, the late Bob Jacobs. Laraine loved anything with the color purple and found enjoyment in working with numbers, often keeping track of daily lottery drawings. Additionally, Laraine enjoyed watching re-runs of the Flintsones, The Beverly Hillbilly’s and The Brady Bunch.Setting the table for family meals was one of Laraine’s many enjoyments. She was always willing to help clean up following the meal by drying the dishes.In addition to her mother Laraine is survived by her siblings, Diana (Gerald) Edwards of Tuscarawas, Christine (Ron) Skrivin of Cleveland, Brad (Dawn) Gasser of New Philadelphia, Matthew Gasser of Canton, Sandra (Ron) Sandy of Dover, and Daniel Gasser of Stone Creek; two uncles, Orin (Dee) Beitzel of Strasburg and Ray Kugler of New Philadelphia and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her father, Laraine was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Russell and Dorothy Beitzel and paternal grandparents, Albert and Vera Gasser.The family will receive friends on Friday, August 28, 2009, from 6:00 â?? 8:00 PM. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Reverend Hugh B. Berry will lead a service celebrating Laraine’s life on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 10:30 AM in the funeral home’s chapel.
