Saved by God’s grace, 18-year-old Lane Eberhardt went home to be with his Lord and ride the heavenly dirt tracks on March 3, 2021, after a long battle with congenital heart problems from an early age.
Born in Dover on May 31, 2002, he was the son of Traci Reichman of New Philadelphia and William Eberhardt of the Atwood Lake region.
Lane was a senior from New Philadelphia, currently enrolled in the Buckeye Career Center Agriculture & Diesel Technology lab. He had a contagious personality that everyone loved to be around. Whether racing locally with the Eroc series or participating with the Fuel Ministry, Lane was in his element on a dirt bike. He greatly enjoyed being a part of Fuel Ministry, whose mission was to draw racers and their families to Jesus through dynamic trackside ministry and life-changing camps.
Lane also enjoyed big trucks, but most importantly, treasured time with his family and close friends.
In addition to his parents, Lane will be deeply missed by his sister, Kat (Justin) Southers of Wilmont and Reagan Eberhardt of Sherrodsville; his grandparents, Alan Reichman of Uhrichsville, Robin Fuller Toole of New Philadelphia, Carrie Studer of Tuscarawas, and Barbara Eberhardt of Bolivar; his aunt, Jamie (Chuck) Miller; his girlfriend, Zoey Renicker-Eiler; nephew, Owen Southers; and numerous cousins, extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in passing by his great-grandparents, Robert and Maude Fuller and Manny and Beulah “Tommy” Reichman; and his grandfather, Stephen Eberhardt.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday, March 9 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. A service celebrating Lane’s life will be held Wednesday, March 10 at 1 p.m. in NewPointe Community Church at Dover. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville.
Lane’s family requests all guests wear casual clothing in any color other than black, as Lane did not like that color. All guests are required to wear a mask to enter the funeral home. Also, racers/riders attending the visitation or service, please bring a pair of riding gloves. In motorcycle riding, the left hand is clutch which brings a bike to “rest”. The right hand is throttle which moves us forward. There will be a place for you to leave your left glove to commemorate that Lane is at peace and rest now. Take your right glove home and remember to keep moving forward.
Memorial contributions in Lane’s memory may be made to either Fuel Ministry, 13607 Broken Branch Way, Louisville, Kentucky, 40245 or LifeBanc, PO Box 933379, Cleveland, OH 44193.
