Kyle W. Adkins, 59, of Port Washington, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in Trinity Hospital Twin City at Dennison, Ohio.
Born at Columbus, Ohio on June 2, 1957, Kyle is a son of Bill and Ruth (Vanhoose) Adkins of Port Washington.
At an early age, the family relocated to California where Kyle graduated from Rowland High School. A passion for go-kart racing turned into a lifelong hobby and career for Kyle. His father began Adkins Speed Center, a go-kart engine building and repair shop while in California and relocated the company to Ohio after the purchase of a go-kart raceway in Port Washington. In his younger years, Kyle’s skill as a driver earned him a name throughout the industry. He later moved on to coaching race drivers and of course maintained a busy schedule as a builder, eventually bringing his son, Brandon, alongside him in the family business.
When not involved with something kart related, Kyle enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Kyle will be deeply missed by his wife of 33 years, the former Sheryl Nord whom he married on October 11, 1983; his son, Brandon Adkins of Canton; his grandchildren, Kinley and Cruz Adkins; two sisters, Joan and Cheryl and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kyle was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Adkins.
A gathering of family and friends is being planned for a later date. Cremation care has been conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
Those wishing to do so may send the family a personal condolence and light a candle in remembrance of Kyle by visiting the funeral home’s website at www.GeibCares.com.
