Kirk Coventry

Kirk Allen Coventry, age 52, of Bolivar, died Monday evening, October 15, 2012.

A son of Constance L. Barley and the late Richard L. Coventry, Kirk was born at Twin City Hospital at Dennison on May 10, 1960.

He was a 1982 graduate of Starlight School at New Philadelphia and worked for the Starlight Workshop from 1988 – 2005.

For the past 20 years, Kirk has made many friends as a resident of the group homes operated by Horizon’s Inc. of Dover. He greatly enjoyed participating in the organization’s Avenues of Adventure Program which allows the residents to attend and participate in many activities throughout the area. Among his favorite outings was attending the Tuscarawas County YMCA where he was often found in the swimming pool. He also enjoyed going out to eat, especially if he could have his favorite meal, cheeseburgers and French fries.

Kirk was also known for his love of books and enjoyed leafing through the pages of his Bible and magazines. Additionally, Kirk loved to exercise, watch Yogi Bear, Scooby Doo, and Classic Hawaii 5-0 television programs as well as participating in holiday parties and spending time with his siblings.

In addition to his Horizon’s family, Kirk is survived by his two brothers, Robert E. Coventry of Dennison, David S. Coventry of Gnadenhutten; a sister, Barbara (Wayne) Rouse of Dennison; a half-brother, Gary (Chastity) Howard and a half-sister, Kelly Howard all of Uhrichsville. Five nieces and five nephews complete the family.

In addition to his father, Kirk was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Rainsberg.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Mr. Dave Millard will lead a service celebrating Kirk’s life in the Dover funeral center on Wednesday at 3:00 PM. Immediately following the service, all are invited to a gathering and fellowship in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Geib Center.
