Kevin Scott Atkinson

Kevin Scott Atkinson, age 56, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly, Friday, May 27, 2022, while on his way to work at Baltic Elementary.

Born on November 3, 1965, Kevin was a son of Robert W. (Clara) Atkinson of Dover and the late Linda R. Smith Atkinson.

He was a graduate of Dover High School and furthered his education as a “hands-on learner” and “Jack of all trades.” There wasn’t much Kevin couldn’t repair or figure out when it came to maintenance and projects and as a result became the go-to friend for help when he was needed. For many years, Kevin was employed by the former Hydraulic Parts Store at New Philadelphia, then Tripple R Trailer, and for the past three years, has been known as Mr. Kevin, the custodian, who loved his job at Baltic Elementary in the Garaway School District and always had a smile on his face.

Kevin was an avid sports fan who followed both high school and college sports faithfully. His family could not remember a time in which he had missed attending a Dover-Phila football game. In addition to following sports, Kevin also loved playing golf and spending many years playing adult league softball.

In addition to his father and step-mother, Kevin is survived by a daughter, Gabryell (Codi) Stark of Uhrichsville; his siblings, Perry (Michele) Atkinson of Bolivar, Cindy (Rick) Swain of Texas, Jeff (Meghin) Atkinson of Ashland, Ohio, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.

In addition to his mother, Kevin was preceded in death by his beloved grand-dog, Charlie.

The family will greet guests on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 11 AM – 1:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A Service celebrating Kevin’s life will be led by Mr. Glenn Carlisle in the funeral home’s chapel at 1:00 PM.
