Kevin Kemphfer

Kevin Scott Kemphfer, age 50, of Dover, died Saturday, March 8, 2025, while in the care of Ohio’s Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia. Kevin had a lengthy, hard-fought, illness as a result of alcoholism.

Born in Union Hospital at Dover on June 11, 1974, a son of Bill and JoAnn Chappell Kemphfer of Dover. Kevin was a 1992 graduate of Dover High School.

He was a longtime employee of Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia where he worked as a part of the Maintenance Team. Kevin was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved a good practical joke and was known for his ornery demeanor.

In addition to his mother and father, Kevin is survived by a brother, Eric (companion, Maureen McCardel) Kemphfer of Talmadge; his companion of 12 years, Leslee Metcalf of Dover; his grandfather, Bill Kemphfer of Dover his aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

Kevin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nelson and Emma Chappell, and his paternal grandmother, Erma Kemphfer.

A celebration of Kevin’s life is being planned for a later date. The Geib Funeral Center at Dover is handling cremation care.
