Kevin D. Hall, 60, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019, at his home following a brief illness.
Born in Strasburg, Ohio on May 22, 1958 he was the son of Mrs. Bernice (Rentsch) Hall and the late Wilbur Hall.
After graduating from Strasburg High School in 1976, he continued his formal education at Kent State University where he obtained an associate degree in Accounting and Business Management, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing.
During his career, Kevin worked as a flooring contractor in Ohio, Indiana, Florida, and Tennessee. He was very skilled at this work and was a valued employee and team member.
He loved time with family, golfing, boating, and hunting. While working in Florida, he volunteered with Big Brothers of Pensacola and served a in a critical role as a substitute father for many young men who have overcome obstacles and become fine adults and family men. Kevin even became certified and performed a wedding for two of the individuals at their request. He had a wonderfully wicked sense of humor and was great fun to be around.
He will be sorely missed by his mother, Bernice, of Heath, OH; his brothers, Richard (Jan) Hall of Worthington, Ronald (Carrie) Hall of Utica, and Thomas (Beth) Hall of Newark. He was also loved by his nephews and nieces, Travis Hall of Dayton, Tennessee, Teresa Crawford of Dayton, Ohio, Michael (Jenna) Hall of Manhattan Beach, California, Jessica (Adam) Porsch of Westerville, Jeny (Matthew) Donavan of Blacklick, and Elli (Andrew) Kalas of Utica, and their children; and many friends.
Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, OH 44622 on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. The Rev. Jason Rissler will lead a memorial service celebrating Kevin’s life on Saturday, February 2 at Noon in St. John United Church of Christ, 516 N. Wooster Ave., Strasburg, OH 44680, with visitation in the church two hours prior to the service. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Private inurnment will be held in Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg.
