Kenneth Weber

Kenneth Eugene “Kenny” Weber, 94, of New Philadelphia passed away peacefully at Community Hospice Truman House on December 27, 2017 following a brief period of declining health.

Born in Strasburg on January 20, 1923, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Della Marian (Johnson) Weber. After graduating from high school, Kenny served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the 11th Airborne and was very proud to be a part of the Los Banjos Raid that liberated more than 2300 American citizens from prisoner of war camps.

Kenny spent his professional career as a corporate pilot working for Weatherhead, Marlite, Ridge Tool, and McKinley Air Transport. His free time was also spent in the air flying his personal plane. He was proud to be the oldest pilot in Tuscarawas County, still having his license at 92 years of age
He was a member of both the A.O.P.A. and the E.A.A. Chapter 1077. He was also an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.

He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Cheryl (Dean) Fisher of New Philadelphia and Sally Phillips of Washington, D.C.; his grandchildren, Chad (Ann) Fisher of New Philadelphia, Dustin (Natalie) Fisher of Gnadenhutten, Morgan Christopher Phillips of Scottsdale, AZ, Taryn (Cory) Weiner of Firestone, CO; great-grandchildren, Michael (Samantha) Fisher of Uhrichsville, Cody Fisher of New Philadelphia, Carter and Hayden Phillips of Scottsdale, AZ, and Cole and Finley Weiner of Firestone, CO; his sisters-in-law, Jane Kohl of Sherrodsville and Mary Ann Weber of Sarasota, FL; and brothers-in-law, Paul Edwards of MN, and Richard Edwards of FL; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by his wife, the former June E. Edwards in 2000; his infant sister, Donna Jean; his brother, Jack Weber; and his beloved cousin, Helen Haney.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday, January 2, 2017 from 4 to 6 PM. A service celebrating Kenny’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 3, 2017 beginning at 2 PM with Pastor Bob Mathias officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445 will render military honors.
