Kenneth Warren Buehler

Kenneth Warren Buehler, a lifelong resident of Stone Creek, died peacefully late Saturday morning, April 7, 2012, in Union Hospital at Dover, at the age of 86.

Born at Stone Creek, September 25, 1925, he was a son of the late Charles and Laura Rausch Buehler.

A 1943 graduate of Stone Creek High School, Kenneth joined the United States Navy during World War II, and received an honorable discharge in 1946.

The following year, he wed the former Rose Mattevi on February 22, 1947. The couple celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage prior to her death February 6, 2006.

He’ll be remembered for his service to his church and community, having served as a deacon and upon various church boards of Grace Community Church. His skill as a carpenter enabled him to assist in the construction of the present church building. Mr. Buehler also served as a Jefferson Township Trustee.

At home, he enjoyed gardening, and pickling vegetables, and sharing the yield with his neighbors, family and friends.

Survivors include his two daughters; Jennifer (Roy) Blind of Jackson Township, O. and Kaleen (Ray) Mickley of New Philadelphia.

He’ll be missed by his three grandchildren; Amy (Paul) Kunkle of Columbus, O., Matt (Kim) Blind of Raleigh, NC, and Josh Mickley of Canton.

Two great-grandchildren, Paige and Cole Kunkle, and two sisters-in-law, Norma Buehler of New Philadelphia, and Esther Buehler of New Mexico also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Buehler is preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Mickley, and his brothers Verle and Roger Buehler.

Friends are invited to call Tuesday, April 10 from 10 – 11 AM in the Grace Community Church at Stone Creek where Pastors Paul E. Houdachelt and Kenneth’s great-nephew, Jeff Matthews, will lead a memorial service at 11 AM. Military honors will follow at the base of the church flagpole, and a luncheon reception will be served. Private inurnment, alongside his wife, will follow in Stone Creek Cemetery.
