Kenneth “Ryan” Wieland

June 30, 1980 — March 10, 2018

Kenneth “Ryan” Wieland, 37, of New Philadelphia passed away on March 10, 2018, surrounded by his family in Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center following a courageous 7-year battle with ALS.

Born June 30, 1980 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, he was the son of Fredric “Fritz” and LuAnn (Watson) Wieland of New Philadelphia. After graduating from Garaway High School in 1998, Ryan worked for Tuscarawas County in the Road & Bridge Department. Then, he continued his employment with ODOT District 11.

Ryan loved his family deeply and enjoyed being in the outdoors. Whether he was building birdhouses with his children, restoring a scrapped car or piece of farm equipment, or riding his 4-wheeler, Ryan loved life and being surrounded by those dearest to him. Working the family farm was a hobby he found great pleasure in also.

Ryan met his wife, the former Jenifer L. Cozart, at Jerusalem Church while they were in high school. After a successful first date at the Demolition Derby, their journey continued together, ultimately marrying on July 21, 2001. They were blessed with the births of their three sons, Tomas, David, and Parker.

Ryan also will be deeply missed by his parents, Fritz and LuAnn Wieland of New Philadelphia; his siblings, Heidi (Todd) Young of East Sparta and Jake Wieland of Cincinnati; his nieces and nephews, Adriann and Cameron Young, Venya Wieland, and Grayson Kopp; his brother-in-law, Tyler Kopp of New Philadelphia; grandfather, Kenny Watson of Dover; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Yvonne Cozart of New Philadelphia; and grandmother-in-law, Ingrid Parker of New Philadelphia.

Ryan was preceded in passing by his grandparents, Louise Watson and Ben and Ida Wieland.
