Kenneth R Stahl

Kenneth R. Stahl, 66, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, March 12, 2012 in his home following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Ralph and Muriel (Adams) Stahl, Ken was born June 2, 1945 at Beach Grove, Indiana.

Ken was a musician and played harmonica and percussion instruments. During his younger years he worked in the music industry in California and managed a variety of rock bands. He was an excellent cook and was the cook as well as the owner and operator along with his wife, Betty, of Stahl’s Loudonville Restaurant.

He was an avid outdoorsman and he especially enjoyed camping, fishing, skiing and gardening. Ken also had a love for the ocean which stemmed from his childhood when his family owned an island in the Bahamas. He was an accomplished artist and painted many ocean and mountain scenes over the years. Ken also enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of both the New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (Moore) Stahl whom he married on December 29, 1982; step sons, Peter (Michelle) Ash and Joseph (Suzi) Ash both of New Philadelphia; step grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) McClelland and Chevy Ash; step great grandchildren, Mayson and Maddox McClelland; a brother, Curtis Stahl of Anamosa, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Judith Paye and Janet Ramsdell.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Ken’s life will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating. Inurnment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
