Kenneth R. McCracken Jr, 73, of Strasburg, died Sunday, September 17, 2017 in Mercy Medical Center at Canton following a period of declining health.

A son of Margaret (Schnabel) McCracken and the late Kenneth R. McCracken Sr, Ken was born March 6, 1944 at Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Ken was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was retired from East Ohio Gas Company. He was also a member of the Schoenbrunn Barbershop Chorus.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Susan (Hammonds) McCracken whom he married on November 21, 1964; his children, Kimberly Johnson, Kenneth (Tracey) McCracken and Kevin (Wendy) McCracken; his grandchildren, Bryan (Jessica) Johnson, Jarrett McCracken, Olivia McCracken and Cecilia “Cece” McCracken; a great granddaughter, Isabella Rose Johnson and another great grandchild expected in February and two brothers, Keith and Kim McCracken.

In keeping with Ken’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. The family will host an informal celebration of Ken’s life at 5 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2017 in the Pine Ridge Community Center at 671 Pine Ridge Parkway, Strasburg, OH 44680 with a reception following. The family will receive friends from 3 PM to 5 PM just prior to the celebration.
