Kenneth E. Ebersbach, 75, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, August 19, 2006 in Aultman Hospital at Canton.Born November 8, 1930, in Zanesville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Shelby and Claris (Chambers) Ebersbach.Ken graduated from Zanesville High School in 1950. From there, he began his professional career, working alongside his family, at Echo Drilling in Zanesville and Gnadenhutten. He was the president and owner of the firm that bought crude oil.Ken married his first wife, the late Barbara (Roe) Ebersbach with whom he raised their two children, Kendra (Jerry) Burris of Louisville, Ohio and Jeff (Susanne) Ebersbach of Lewis Center, Ohio.After Barbara’s death in 1983, Ken remarried the former Nancy E. Reed and raised her son, Christopher (Roxanna) Curtis of New Philadelphia. In their later years together, they enjoyed trail riding and raising horses. Both are members of the Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia. Other memberships include Walking Horse Breeders & Exhibitors Association, the Rocky Mountain Horse Association, Ohio Oil & Gas Association and the Newcomerstown Elks Lodge. Ken was a very passionate about his horses and he presently owned a registered Rocky Mountain Horse.Ken is also survived by a dear nephew and business partner, Virgil “Junior” Ebersbach, Jr. of Newcomerstown; three additional step-children, James Curtis of Cambridge, Linda Bard of Mansfield and Kelly Curtis of Zanesville; grandchildren, Adam and Jonathan Burris of Louisville, Andrew and Erin Ebersbach of Lewis Center, Amy (Cory) Fisher of Marion, Aaron Bard of Mansfield, Melissa Curtis of Zanesville, Meagan, Morgan, Marshall, Marshon, and Markil Curtis, all of Zanesville, and Breanna Sholtz and Brody Dunham, both of New Philadelphia; two great-grandsons; and one sister, Juanita Wineman of Zanesville.In addition to his first wife and parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Virgil.Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral celebrating his life will be held at Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. William Sowers officiating. Immediately following the service, a meal will be held in the church hosted by Ken’s church family. A committal service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown.
