Kenneth Clayton Edie, 65, of New Philadelphia, died September 24, 2006, at Union Hospital following a brief battle with lung cancer.Kenneth was born in Dover, on June 3, 1941 to the late Russell V. and Letha Marie Johnson Edie. From 1959-1963, Kenneth served in the United States Navy and while aboard the Navy Destroyer, William V. Pratt, he received the National Defense Service Medal. One special honor during his naval service was driving Mrs. Mary Lincoln, Secretary to President John F. Kennedy. Kenneth was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing and camping with his family.On May 22, 1965, Kenneth married Sylvia Jean (Collier) Edie, by whom he is survived. He is also survived by his three children, Kenneth Wayne (Lisa Sue) Edie of Strasburg, Renee Lynn (James Harry) Patton of Bolivar, and Randall Clayton (Angela Kristine) Edie of West Lafayette.He will be sadly missed by his nine grandchildren, Kenneth Russell Edie, Ethan Wayne Edie, Clayton James Patton, Rachel Marie Patton, Jacob Stewart Patton, Jordan Cameron Patton, Joseph Andrew Patton, Mallory Elizabeth Simmons, and Allison Kristine Edie.Friends are invited to call Friday, October 6 2006, from 2:00-4:00 pm and from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.Dr. Steven A. Gerig will lead the Edie funeral Saturday morning, October 7, 2006, 11:00 am in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Members of the Tuscarawas V.F.W. will conduct military graveside services.Following the committal service, a reception will be given for family and friends in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
