Kenneth E. Brown, 89, of New Philadelphia, returned to his heavenly home December 18, 2014, following a period of declining health.
A son of the late Donald George and Helen (Crone) Brown, Ken was born December 28, 1924 in New Philadelphia.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Ken was a lifelong member of the local community. He was a long time employee with the New Philadelphia City Schools as a custodian and enjoyed his 20 plus year tenure, retiring in 1990.
A member of the Home Mission Church in Alliance, Ken, was also an ordained Minister with the Evangelical Wesleyan Church of Cooperstown, Pennsylvania, and enjoyed his retirement years in the pulpit.
Ken enjoyed singing playing the guitar and harmonica and spending time out of doors, camping.
Kenneth will be deeply missed by his wife, Dorcas K. (Oettinger) Brown, whom he married on August 6, 1988; a daughter, Beth (Wiley) Dixon of St. Thomas, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Seth (Courtney) of Kansas and Stacey (Andrew) of Colorado; and three great-grandchildren, Zane, Bryce, and Paige.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his first wife, Aletha Jean Brown, whom he married on January 11, 1948; a son, Douglas Brown; and two brothers, Richard Brown and Jerry Colletti.
The family will greet guests on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Ken’s will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 1:30 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. A time of food and fellowship will immediately follow the service in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
