Kenneth B. Heathcock

Kenneth B. Heathcock, 92, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Apr. 24, 2002, in Union Hospital, following a brief illness.Born Jun. 12, 1909, he was a son of the late Horace and Ethel C. Gross Heathcock. Kenneth attended New Philadelphia High School. He married Irene A. Jentes on Mar. 7, 1936. Irene died on Jan. 31, 1997. Kenneth retired from Greer Steel Co., Dover, in 1973, following thirty-eight years of service.He was a member of First Christian Church, New Philadelphia, AARP, and the United Steelworkers Retirees. Kenneth enjoyed bowling and gardening.Survivors include two daughters, Gwen A. (Roger H.) Klein of Massillon, and Jane E. (David M.) Peoples of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Klein, Joanne (Nathan) Hollinger, Janice (Mike) Daughenbaugh, Carl (Nicki) Peoples, and Clayton (Ivy) Peoples; five great-grandchildren, Andrea, Kayla, Alexa, Trista, and Brock Hollinger; several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, and his wife, Irene, he was preceded in death by a sister, Venetta Heathcock, and a brother, Byron Heathcock.A funeral service will be held Saturday, Apr. 27, 2002, at 2 p.m., in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Burial will be in East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia. Visitation will be Friday, 7-9 p.m., and Saturday, 1-2 p.m., in the funeral home.
