Kelse M. Sexton, 92, of New Philadelphia, passed away November 4, 2023 in Park Village Southside following a period of declining health.
Born September 6, 1931 in Strasburg, he was the son of the late Kelse S. Sexton, Sr. and Maud Marie (Fannin) Sexton.
After completing his formal education, Kelse served in the United States Army. On April 5, 1953, he married the former Lois June Zeger.
Kelse was employed with Norfolk Southern for 34 years as a welder. He was an avid hunter, but greatly enjoyed turkey hunting. He completed the Grand Slam, a designation received after harvesting and registering the four most common subspecies of wild turkey: the Eastern, Rio Grande, Merriam's and Osceola (Florida) turkeys. He passed his love for hunting to his sons.
Additionally, Kelse and Lois loved to jitterbug together and travel. He had a great sense of humor and will be long remembered playing Marty Robbins music on his guitar.
Kelse is survived by his wife, Lois J. Sexton; children, Regina (Robert) Hatton of Valero, Florida, Steven Sexton of Corapeake, North Carolina, Kelly (Alicia) Sexton of Strasburg, and Doug (Carla) Sexton of New Philadelphia; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Kelse was preceded in passing by his siblings, Raymond, Thurston, Clifford, Glenn, Homer and Omer Sexton.
