Keith M. Immel, 87, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 in Park Village-Southside at New Philadelphia following a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Born at Shanesville, Keith was the son of the late Garrison and Opal (Sweitzer) Immel and had retired from GTE after 38 years of service, where he had worked in Key Systems. Following his retirement from GTE, he then worked for the City of New Philadelphia as a Waterline Inspector for 10 years. Keith was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia; a member of the New Philadelphia Elks , Dover Eagles and loved to golf.
Surviving is his wife, Peggy (Hoopengarner) Immel of the residence; two sons, William “Bill” (Debbie) Immel and Jeffery (Ruth) Immel and a daughter, Tammy (Jack) Shalosky, all of New Philadelphia; a sister, Maxine Gerber and a sister-in-law, Jean Gerber, both of Sugarcreek; a brother, Max Immel of Dover; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Heidi) Immel, Brooke Murphy, Megan (Luke) Kneuss, Amanda Immel and her fiancée, Christian Hime and Victoria (Dylan) Knight; ten great-grandchildren, Brady and Bella Immel, Payton and Paige Murphy, Triston, Ezekiel, Elijah and Cecilia Kneuss and Bailey and Aubrey Knight.
In addition to his parents, Keith was also preceded in death by his brothers, Doran Immel, Roger Immel and his twin brother, Kenneth Immel.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 from 10 to 11 AM in Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia and where a funeral service for Keith will begin at 11 AM with Rev. Robert Eller officiating. Burial will be in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover and a reception will be held in Emmanuel Lutheran Church Hall following the committal.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to either Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, or, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 202 East High Avenue, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
