Keith A. Dessecker, 78, of Dover, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.
Born in Dover, he was the son of Glenn W. and Helen N. (Fisher) Dessecker and a 1962 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Following his graduation, Keith enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country for three years before being honorably discharged. Following his discharge from the service, Keith earned an appointment to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy and following his graduation from the academy, proudly served as a State Trooper for 25 years before his retirement in 1994. Keith enjoyed fishing the local conservancy lakes, especially Leesville and also golfing with his brother Dave.
On February 27, 1994, Keith married Darlene (Maurer) Dessecker and together shared over 25 years of marriage before his passing. Also surviving are his children, Tamara Lynn (Danny) Brenneman of West Lafayette, Lori Ann (Michael) Chamberlain of Dover and Brian Keith (Lynn) Dessecker of Dover; his three stepchildren, Christine Brown of New Philadelphia, Timothy Schaar of New Philadelphia and Shawn Boughner of Dover; six grandchildren, Danika, Jarrett and Zander Brenneman; Haley Chamberlain and her fiancé, Greg Castetter, Kaden Chamberlain and Dr. Brandon (Brittany) Dessecker; four step-grandchildren, Taylor, Derek, Cameron and Parker; two step- great grandchildren, Remedi and Elija; a brother, Dave (Linda) Dessecker of Dover and a sister, Yvonne “Lynn” (Larry) Stephan of Dover.
In addition to his parents, an infant son, Timothy Dessecker and a brother, Glenn L. “Larry” Dessecker also precede him in death.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 8, 2021 from 9:30 to 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia where an FOP service will begin at 10:50 AM. A service celebrating his life will begin at 11 AM with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park at Dover where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors.
Due to COVID 19, safety precautions will be taken. The 6-foot rule will be honored and all guests are required to wear a mask to enter the funeral home. For the safety of everyone, and to allow other guests to pay their respects, we politely ask that visitors who do not intend to stay for the service, to not linger in the funeral home and to promptly exit the building after greeting the family.
