Katie V. Hine, 67, of New Philadelphia (Roswell), went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 22, 2002, after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer.Born Jan. 2, 1935, in Holmes County, she was a daughter of the late Valentine “Felty” and Sarah Schlabach Miller. Katie married Sam Erb on Feb. 5, 1978; Sam died on Feb. 15, 1987. She married John Hine on Sept. 11, 1989, and John died on Jun. 5, 1997. Katie was employed by the Donut Connection in Dover, and, for many years, by Alsco, Sugarcreek.She was a member of Roxford United Methodist Church, Dennison. Katie’s greatest joy was her family Â? her daughters, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, sisters and brothers. They are: Twin daughters, Mary Miller (Mark) Paisley, and Martha Miller “Marty” (Alan) Peterman, both of Roswell; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Paisley of Sherrodsville, Johnny (Amanda) Peterman of Midvale, Brandi (Tim) Deardorf, Kathi Peterman, Clark Paisley, Joseph and Waylon Peterman, all of Roswell; a great-granddaughter, Madison Paisley of Sherrodsville; five sisters, Emma (Daniel) Raber of Millersburg, (Mrs.) Mary Ann Miller, Esther and Freda Miller, all of Sugarcreek, and Martha (Dan) Stutzman of Florida; two brothers, Nelson (Ann) Miller of Dundee, and Marvin (Anna) Miller of Baltic; sister-in-law, Ann Miller of Sugarcreek; five additional sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law, all of Columbus; numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends.In addition to her parents, and her husbands, Sam Erb and John Hine, she was preceded in death by a brother, Andy V. Miller. Katie was also very fond of stock car races, gardening, and being outdoors, especially when it involved watching her grandchildren play baseball, softball and basketball. Additionally, she was a regular attendee at Don Wallick auctions.A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2002, at 1 p.m., in Roxford United Methodist Church, Dennison, with Pastor Henry E. Mooney officiating. Burial will be in Holmes Church Cemetery, New Philadelphia. Following the committal, there will be a meal in Roxford Church. Visitation will be Friday (today), May 24, 2002, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
