Kathryn N. Hanlon, 78, of New Philadelphia (Goshen), died Thursday, April 11, 2002, in her home. Born Aug. 16, 1923, in Washington County, OH, she was a daughter of the late Emmett E. and Bessie M. Joy Martin. Kathryn attended Newport High School, and married Harold C. Hanlon on Aug. 23, 1938. Harold died on Apr. 15, 1994. Kathryn retired from Alsco Anaconda, Sugarcreek.She was a member of the AARP, and was a volunteer for Hospice of Tuscarawas County. Kathryn loved to watch the birds outside her Goshen home.Survivors include a daughter, Kay (John) Walton of New Philadelphia; two sons, Harold David (friend, Jane Murphy) Hanlon of Sherrodsville, and Donald E. (LaVonne R.) Hanlon of Laurel, MD; nine grandchildren, Dawn (John Bassford) Hanlon, Starr (Aaron) Hertz, Steven (Tracey Wilkie-Hanlon) Hanlon, Kathryn (James) Cummings, Brenda (James) Harding, John (Jodie) Walton, Harold (Cindy) Walton, Shelly (Brad) Moore, Jason Charles Malterer; eleven great-grandchildren, Tamara, Lindsay and Matthew Wood, Schuyler, Marina and Xander Hanlon, Joshua and Braden Hertz, Michaela Hanlon, Emerson Hanlon, Zachary and Daniel Cummings, Jeremiah and David Harding, John and Matthew Walton, Brandon Miller, Christopher, Kayleigh and Nicholas; two brothers, George Martin of Wade, and Clyde Martin of New Metamoras; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Sue and Phil Albury, Seth, Christopher, Nathan, Lauren “Dolly” and Melissa “Princess” Albury.In addition to her parents, and her husband, Harold, a grandson, Michael Clinton Hanlon, three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.A funeral service will be held Monday, Apr. 15, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia, with Rev. Lee Randolph, pastor of the Goshen Community Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia.
