Kathryn M. Bichsel, 94, of Dover, died Sunday, August 2, 2009 at New Dawn Health Care at Dover.A daughter of the late Jacob and Adora (Myer) Dickman, Kathryn was born May 14, 1915 at Goshen, Ohio.Kathryn graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1933 and then attended Muskingum College at New Concord, Ohio.Following her schooling, she married Homer G. Bichsel and together the couple reared three children. Kathryn and Homer were the owners and operators of the former Bichsel Shade Shop.After Homer’s death on June 16, 1970, Kathryn went to work for Attorney Wilford Miller’s office as a legal secretary. She was also a former business school teacher.Kathryn was a charter member of the Schoenbrunn Moravian Church at New Philadelphia as well as a member of the First Moravian Church at Dover. She was an active member of the Que Vive Club and enjoyed attending the activities of her hobby club. Kathryn was an avid bridge player; she loved flowers and enjoyed the companionship of her dogs.She is survived by her sons, H. Tim (Mary) Bichsel of Naples, Florida, P. Richard (Doris) Bichsel of Dover and Tom (Lynnette) Bichsel of Plain City, Ohio; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a sister, Margaret Edwards.Friends may call on Thursday, August 6, 2009 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Kathryn’s life will follow in the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sue Koenig officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Kathryn’s memory to the First Moravian Church, 319 North Walnut Street, Dover, OH 44622.
