Kathryn Karleen Klingler, 96, of New Philadelphia passed away in Union Hospital on Saturday, October 19, 2013.
Born in Strasburg on January 11, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Karl William and Catherine (Stahlecker) Eberly.
After completing her formal education, Kathryn married her late husband, Dr. Raymond Albert Klingler, who passed away July 8, 1968.
Her professional career included acting as a buyer for Garver’s Department Store, working alongside her husband at his Sugarcreek physician’s practice, and Marlowe’s.
Kathryn’s faith was nurtured at First Christian Church in New Philadelphia where she formerly participated in the church choir and the Master Builders class.
Bird watching, gardening, reading, and tending to her flowers, were some of Kathryn’s hobbies.
In recent years, she greatly enjoyed having friends visit her at New Dawn Retirement Community where she was a resident. There, she received excellent, loving care from the staff.
Kathryn will be deeply missed by her children including Mick (Shari) Klingler and Kathy (Tom) Hershberger, both of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Jeff Klingler, Natalie (Brad) Riggs, and Andrea (Jared) Brunk; her great-grandchildren, Noah, Lincoln, and Carson Brunk and Jaxson Riggs; and her daughter-in-law, Betty Klingler.
Two sisters-in-law, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews complete her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kathryn was preceded in death by her son, Jack Klingler; her daughter, Carol Dapoz; her grandson, Barry Ray Dapoz; and her sisters, Iva Foster and Edna Snyder.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. A service celebrating Kathryn’s life will be held in the First Christian Church on Thursday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jim Borton officiating. A meal will be shared in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
Cremation will be cared for through Geib’s and a private inurnment will take place in Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg.
