Kathryn Heck

Kathryn Leora Heck, 85, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia while surrounded by her family following a recent illness.

A daughter of the late Frank and Loretta (Brewer) Adkins, Kathryn was born February 2, 1932 at Sugarcreek, Ohio.

On June 4, 1948, Kathryn married Donald F. Heck and the couple shared 58 years of marriage prior to Donald’s passing on July 13, 2006.

Kathryn worked as a bus driver for the New Philadelphia School District for 25 years and was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia. She was also a member of the Tuscarawas County Senior Center and former member of the Tusco Camping Club. Kathryn and Don spent many winters in Trenton, Florida and enjoyed the companionship of friends in the Oak Grove Village.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (Richard) Pope of Tuscarawas, Judy (Gary) Littleton of New Philadelphia and Donnie (Sharon) Heck of Canton; her grandchildren, Jessica (Pat) Ferris, Aron (Shane) Satterfield, Trevor (Shanna) Littleton, Ashley Bates, Christopher Heck, Layla Heck, Rachel Showers and Jamie Ledford; her great-grandchildren, Ethan, Brody, Riley, Payton, Ryan, Lainey, Bo, Braylon, Sergey, Violetta, Brielle, Riah, Koen, Roman, Sophia, Keira, Tara, Logan, Ally and Austin and a sister, Mary “Sis” Wengerd of New Philadelphia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Elaine Sue Heck, three sisters and eight brothers.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Kathryn’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with her grandson, Pastor Trevor Littleton, officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery at Sugarcreek. Following the committal service a time of fellowship will be held in the Hospitality Room in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
