Kathryn Fletcher

Kathryn Ann Fletcher, 87, of Dover, died Monday, August 31, 2015 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Simon and Jane (Mitchell) Kinsey, Kathryn was born November 12, 1927 in her childhood home at New Philadelphia.

Kathryn graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1944. She then continued her education at The Ohio State University. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ at New Philadelphia.

She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in caring for her family. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends and especially enjoyed decorating and cooking meals for holidays. She was an avid reader of cookbooks and she also had a love for dogs.

Kathryn will be remembered for her artistic talents, especially her watercolor and oil paintings and also for her exquisite seamstress abilities. Most of all, she will be remembered for her selfless personality and for her willingness to help others first.

She is survived by her husband, John C. Fletcher whom she married on April 20, 1978; her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Russ McGlothlin of New Philadelphia and her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Becki Reiser of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, J. (Dolora) Schumacher of Johnstown, Ohio, Kathryn (Jason) Lehigh of Delaware, Ohio, Micah (Rebecca) Reiser of Ashburn, Virginia, Jordan (Brittany) Reiser of Evansville, Indiana, and Christopher Reiser of Gnadenhutten; her great grandchildren, Olivia, Charlie and Simon Lehigh and her nieces and nephew.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Reiser and a sister, Jackie Phipps.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover and again one hour prior to the service on Friday. A funeral service celebrating Kathryn’s life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. A luncheon will follow in the Hospitality Room in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover following the committal service.
