Kathryn “Kay” Caroline Parson Geib Finzer, 100, of Dover, passed away May 29, 2015 in Hennis Care Center at Dover.
Born in New Philadelphia on January 28, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Stewart Roy and Mary Virginia (Hockenberry) Parson.
After completing her formal education at New Philadelphia High School, she began her professional career working in the credit department at Montgomery Ward.
Kay’s faith was nurtured at St. John’s United Church of Christ where she was a longtime member. She also enjoyed her affiliation with the former Lambda Chapter of Alpha Pi Sigma Social Club in New Philadelphia, where she was an honorary member.
She greatly enjoyed bowling in many area leagues as well as collecting carrousel horse figurines and bells, cups, and saucers. Most importantly, Kay loved to spend time with her family. They were of utmost importance to her.
Her family includes her son, David Finzer of Baltic; nine grandchildren, Brian McCaulley of Canton, Todd McCaulley of Magnolia, Jeff (Kelli) McCaulley of Minnesota, Jan (Christa) Geib of Lexington, SC, Randy (Angela) Geib of Columbia, SC, James (Lisette) Geib of Columbia, SC, Breck (Vanessa) Finzer of Cincinnati, Brant Finzer of Perrysburg, and Lara McCaulley of Perry Twp.; 12 great-grandchildren, Kathryn McCaulley of Canton, Kennedy and Lauren McCaulley of Minnesota, Kyler and Ava Geib of South Carolina, Joscelyn Geib of South Carolina, Steven, Brendon, and Gavin McCaulley of Canton, Seth McCaulley of Perry, and Hunter and Hayden Geib of South Carolina; her son-in-law, Robert McCaulley of Magnolia; her daughter-in-law, Patsy Geib of Leesville, South Carolina; and her brother, Jack (Renee) Parson of New Philadelphia; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd D. Finzer who died June 3, 1998; her daughter, Sidney Geib McCaulley on October 17, 2007; her son, Terry Geib on October 31, 2009; her sister, Evelyn Smith on January 31, 2010; her brother, Kenneth Parson; and a stillborn infant son, Ronald Keith Geib on September 7, 1935.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. A service celebrating her life will be held in the funeral home chapel Tuesday beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
Friends are invited to the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home, where a meal will be shared following the committal service.
