Kathleen Mae Cox

July 30, 1929 — August 23, 2022

Kathleen Mae Cox, 93, of New Philadelphia and formerly of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 23, 2022, at Park Village Southside assisted living.

Born in Wellston, Ohio, on July 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Russell Wilbur and Lucille Mildred (Addis) Riddlebarger. After graduating from high school, Kathleen married the late Ivan Eugene Cox on March 19, 1949. Together, they celebrated 64 years of marriage prior to Ivan’s passing in 2013.

Kathleen’s professional career spanned 35 years with Ohio Bell prior to her retirement. She was also an avid reader, and enjoyed crafting and boating on the Muskingum River. Most importantly, she adored her family and spending time with them. They will remember Kathleen for her quick wit and exceptional personality.

A few years ago, Kathleen moved to Park Village Southside to be close to her daughter and family. As a resident there, Kathleen developed several great relationships with staff and residents, alike.

Kathleen will be deeply missed by her family including her children, Stephen (Cheryl) Cox of Cambridge, MA and Kathy (Michael) Reed of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Justin (Rebecca) Tilley, Jeremy Tilley, and Shannon (Dustin) Smith; and great-grandchildren, Rowen, Arlo, and Louisa Tilley, and Autumn and Connor Smith.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by her brothers, Russell Jr. and Charles.
