Kathleen “Kathy” Hoffmann, 68, of New Philadelphia passed away peacefully in the Cleveland Clinic on February 5, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Modesto, California on June 11, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Robert Paul and Maxine (Storey) Dougan. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Carl “Rick” Hoffmann. Shortly after they married in the Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral in San Bernardino, California, Rick joined the United States Air Force to serve in Vietnam, while Kathy stayed with his family. When Rick returned, Kathy selflessly put her personal educational aspirations on hold to support his.
Kathy established a very successful business career in accounting throughout California, New York and Ohio. After 12 years of marriage, the two were blessed with the birth of three children, Heather, Carl, and Stephen. While maintaining a commitment to her professional career that spanned both nationally and internationally, Kathy continued to provide balance at her home. She achieved great professional advancements, but most importantly, she was an exceptional mother and wife. This selfless and deeply devoted person always put the needs of others first.
At the time of retirement, Kathy relocated to Tuscarawas County so she and Rick could be with their three children and nine grandchildren. She loved this community and it’s values and never missed an opportunity to nurture her family. She was passionate about their well-being and making sure each felt loved and appreciated.
Kathy will be deeply missed and forever dearly remembered by her husband, Rick, of New Philadelphia with whom she celebrated 51 years of marriage; her children, Heather (Ken) Stemple of Dover, Carl (Vanessa) Hoffmann and Stephen (Allison) Hoffmann, all of Dover; her precious grandchildren, Kenny and Cierra Stemple, and C.J., Cali, Lukas, Sophia, Charlotte, Samuel, and Benjamin Hoffmann; and her sister, Sarah Dougan.
