Kathleen Brinkerhoff

Kathleen Jo Brinkerhoff, age 51, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, June 1, 2015, while in the care of Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a courageous battle with cancer.

A daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Snyder) Devore of Dover and the late Michael Espenschied, Kathy was born in Union Hospital at Dover on August 21, 1963.

She was a 1981 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and attended Stark State Technical College at Canton where she studied accounting.

While in school, Kathy began working for the former Ponderosa Steakhouse and later joined Berner Trucking where she has been employed for the past 23 years as the Human Resources Coordinator. For nearly the past decade, Kathy has worked at the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge BPOE #510 as a server and was an active volunteer for many of the clubs functions through the years.

She enjoyed supporting her sons by attending their athletic activities and being with her beloved dogs, Newton and Andy. Above all, Kathy loved life and helping anyone who was in need.

Her beautiful smile and laugh will be deeply missed by her mother and father; her sons, David (companion, Lindsey New) Morris of the home and Tony (Cindy) Morris of Seville, Ohio; her companion, Roger Dotts of the home; her grandchildren, Tommie and Joey; her brother, Kevin Devore of Dover and her grandmother, Lois Espenschied of Dover and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to her father, Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Espenschied; her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Marjorie Snyder, and her paternal grandfather, Fred Espenschied.

The family will greet guests on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Kathy’s life will be led by Mr. Keith New on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home’s chapel.
