Kathleen A. Connare, age 64, of Dover died peacefully Wednesday, June 30, 2010, in Union Hospital at Dover following a two year illness.A daughter of the late Walter and Charlotte (Stead) Collis, Kathy, as she was known by her family and friends was born at Lakewood, Ohio on October 22, 1945.Following graduation from Lakewood High School, Kathy attended a secretarial and accounting school and was employed by Penton Publishing and Durkee-Glidden Corp. She soon began a career that has spanned for twenty-four years as an associate with Dr. Anita Olmos.Kathy had many passions which included bowling, ice skating, singing karaoke, being with her friends at the Dover VFW and Army-Navy, and being a fan of the Cleveland Browns. She also cherished the time spent with her family and enjoying being with her grandchildren during their activities.Kathy will be missed by her daughter, Kim (Ryan) Downin of Strasburg; a son, Wally (Melissa) Connare of Dover; a step-daughter, Kathy Sammon of Fairview Park, Ohio; John “Jack” Connare of New Philadelphia, whom she enjoyed thirty years of marriage, and a sister, Marilyn (Lloyd) Heinbaugh of Mentor.Eight grandchildren, Bailey and Ashley Downin, Corey, Cassy and Cooper Connare and Jeanne, Danny, and Michael Sammon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins complete the family.In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by a great-aunt Genevieve Stead.The family will receive friends on Friday, July 2, 2010, from 6:00 Â? 8:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover and again one hour prior to services on Saturday, July 3, 2010, from 10:00 Â? 11:00 AM. Reverend Dr. Terry Downin will lead a funeral service celebrating Kathy’s life in the Dover Funeral Center at 11:00 AM. Following the service the family wishes to invite guests to join them in the Hospitality Room of the Geib Funeral Center where a meal and fellowship will be shared. In keeping with Kathy’s wishes, cremation will follow services with a private inurnment planned for a later date in Harvard Grove Cemetery at Cleveland.Those unable to attend may send the family personal condolences and share memories by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.The family requests memorial contributions in Kathy’s name be directed to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
