Katherine Rae “Kate” Kinsey, age 22, who grew up in New Philadelphia, and recently became a resident of Canton, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning in Mercy Medical Center at Canton. Born at Dover, July 3, 1984, she completed a family that includes her parents, James and Connie Cook Kinsey, who reside at New Philadelphia, her brother, Mike and his wife Joanna of Miamisburg, Ohio. A 2002 graduate of New Philadelphia, where she will be remembered as a well-liked and popular student, Kate attended Kent State University at both the Kent and Tuscarawas Campus before moving to Canton in January where she worked as a fitness trainer for Ladies Super Fitness. A cheerful and outgoing person, Kate enjoyed working with her clients, who will miss her energetic personality and positive encouragement. Kate was a special person to many, but especially to her grandparents who include her maternal grandmother Betty and her husband Charles Montgomery of New Philadelphia, and paternal grandmother Doris and her husband William Fowler of New Philadelphia. Survivors also include her aunt Carol (husband Larry) Kappeler, and uncle Terry (wife Debbie) Cook , all of New Philadelphia, cousins; Amber (husband Darin) Murray of Wooster, Ohio, Wendy (husband Chris) Nadeau of North Canton, John (wife Nan) Kappeler of Huntington Beach, California, Jerry (companion Suparna) Kappeler of Phoenix, Arizona, Jamie (companion Trish) Kappeler of Springfield, Missouri, and her boyfriend Travis Veverka of Dover. Kate was preceded in death by her infant brother, Brian James Kinsey, her maternal grandfather Kenneth Cook, and paternal grandfather, Dean Kinsey. Those gifted with knowing Kate will never forget the joy she brought to her family and friends. The Kinsey family will receive friends Friday evening, April 20, from 5PM to 8PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Dr. Steven R. Bailey will lead Kate’s funeral ceremony Saturday morning at 11 AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
