Karla Kay Hendrix

November 17, 1953 — April 10, 2012

Karla Kay Hendrix, age 58, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, in the Cleveland Clinic following a courageous 10 month battle with leukemia.

A daughter of the late Kenneth F. and Dolly M. (Slentz) Hendrix, Karla was born in Twin City Hospital at Dennison on November 17, 1953.

Karla attended Conotton Valley High School at Bowerston and was employed for a number of years at Kleen Test, Inc. at Beach City. During her employment, she met and made many very close friends whom she enjoyed working alongside each day.

In her spare time, Karla enjoyed reading, crocheting, working crossword puzzles, planting flowers, and caring for her cats. Her other hobbies included watching auto races, the History Channel, and classic western movies as well as visiting Tuscora Park and attending the park’s annual Summer Showcase Series. Most of all, Karla enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

Karla leaves behind two children Tina Marie (Bobby) Baumgardner of Uhrichsville and Ronnie Lee (Michelle) Abel, II of Stone Creek; her fiancée, Thomas F. Albright of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Steven (Shelbie) Baumgardner, Tori Baumgardner and her companion, Lewis Kreinbihl, Kassidy Abel and her companion, Marcus Swiger, Kailyn Abel, and Austin Baumgardner; three great-grandchildren, Izabellah Baumgardner, Ariana Baumgardner and Makynli Kreinbihl and her former husband, Ronnie Lee Abel I, of Uhrichsville.

Six siblings, Kenneth “Butch” (Linda) Hendrix, Jr., Kathy Jo Hendrix-Coen and her companion, Greg Rook, Kevin Hendrix and his companion, Lisa Addy, Jeffrey (Tammy) Hendrix, Lisa Hendrix-Craigo, and Pamela Hendrix and 17 nieces and nephews complete the family.

In keeping with Karla’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. A private family service led by Pastor Wayne Baker will be held at a later date. Cremation care has been conducted through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.
