Karen Sue West, age 57, of Dennison, died Thursday, February 14, 2008, in her home. Born at Dover, August 18, 1950, she is a daughter of the late William and Hazel Rennicker Stansbery. Karen was a member of the first graduating class of Claymont High School in 1968. A member of Roxford United Methodist Church, Karen enjoyed participating in the Women’s Fellowship Group and a Bible Study through the church. She enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens, watching the birds, and taking in the beauty of the outdoors. Karen had served 18 years as a secretary for the former Puritan Laundry, then with Reliable Auto Parts before going to work at Alsco, retiring when the Gnadenhutten operation closed in 2000. Since then, she has enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Karen is survived by her husband of thirty-six years, Russ West, of Dennison. The couple wed April 11, 1971, in Roxford United Methodist Church. Together, they reared a daughter and son, Chris (husband Bill) Meese of Dennison, and Eric (companion Jamie Fulton) West of Sherrodsville. She’ll be sadly missed by her grandchildren; Ryan, Hunter, Alexis and Brock Meese of Dennison and Chloe Fulton of Sherrodsville.A sister, Wanda (husband Gordon) Gilmore of Albany, Ohio, brothers; Carl (wife Eileen) Stansbery and William Stansbery, and a sister-in-law, Tina Walters, all of Dennison, a mother-in-law, Viola West of New Philadelphia, sister-in-law Joyce (husband Larry) Knoll of Grove City, Ohio, brother-in-law Bill (wife Darleene) West of Dover, sister-in-law Liz (husband Mark) Meechan of New Philadelphia, also survive. Numerous nieces and nephews complete the family. In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her brother, David Stansbery, and her father-in-law, Howard West. Friends are invited to call Monday, February 18, from 2-4 and from 6-8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Bob Mathias will lead Mrs. West’s funeral Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the Funeral Home’s Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a reception will be given in the Family Life Center of Roxford United Methodist Church.
