Karen Louise Sicurella, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, February 7, 2004 at Aultman Hospital in Canton following a brief illness. She was 52.A daughter of Dorothy Pietro Sicurella and the late Alessio Sicurella, Karen was born in Steubenville on July 23, 1951.She was a graduate of Alhambra High School in Alhambra, CA, and attended East L.A. College in Los Angeles.An illustrator by profession, Karen was instrumental in the creation of various animated features including the current film, Lord of the Rings. For two years, she also designed floats for the Rose Bowl Parade. She was an avid reader of political writings and biographies, and was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia.Karen is survived by her mother, aunts, Carme Zito and Josephine Bellanco of Dover, and Josephine Cardinal of Massillon; and aunt and uncle, Charles and Mary Pietro, Jr., of Dover.Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, February 10, 2004, from 10 to 11 am at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home Chapel. Services will immediately follow at 11 am with Father William Arnold officiating. Karen will be laid to rest next to her father at Calvary Cemetery in Dover.
